Things to do For Eid al-Fitr 2026 in the UK – prayers, family activities and events

Depending on the moon sighting, Eid will fall this year on either 20 or 21 March and Muslims across the country will join their families and communities to end Ramadan. From London to Belfast, there are many ways across the UK to celebrate Eid in a good community spirit.

Eid in the Park, a multi-day festival with fun and activities for the whole family, will return to many cities this year, including London, Luton and Manchester

Celebratory food markets, crafts workshops and museum events can also be enjoyed in a number of cities.

Whatever you are looking for, Hyphen’s guide to Eid events will help you find events to celebrate the day.

Eid prayers

Eid salah (prayer) takes place in the early morning on the first day of Eid. Muslims are encouraged to say the prayer together with their local Muslim community and mosques all around the country will begin the day by opening their doors to worshippers.

Here are the prayer times in mosques across the UK:

1Eid in the Park – London

Eid and following day

Goodmayes Park, Ilford

For two days, Goodmayes Park in Ilford, east London, will transform into an Eid wonderland of family fun.

With single tickets starting at £7 and family discounts readily available, organisers are offering something for everyone: firework displays, a Qur’an competition, a petting zoo and circus workshops.

The event is organised by 1Eid, a volunteer-run organisation of British Muslims wanting to bring the joy, unity and spirit of Eid to everyone.

Organisers have promised that moody March weather will not dampen the celebrations, with gazebos and a stock of emergency umbrellas at the ready.

“1Eid has been running for 18 years. Come rain or shine the sunnah must be upheld!” they said.

1Eid will also be hosting an event in Luton’s Wardown Park.

A day of DJs, dohl, delicious desi food and kids’ rides is brought to Blackpool by two friends, Uzma Khan and Adeel Hashmi.

The ticketed Eid event will be the “first of its type” in Blackpool, Khan told the BBC.

Alongside rides, music and performances, children and parents can look forward to a number of activities, including free professional family photo shoots, henna mehndi, face painting and hair braiding. Children will also have the opportunity to show off their new outfits during a special fashion show.

Eid in the Park – Manchester

Eid and the two following days

Platt Lane Complex, Yew Tree Road

Eid in the Park will return to Manchester for the tenth time. Since 2016 the Eid event has become an integral part of the northern Muslim calendar with previous celebrations attracting more than 20,000 people.

In a change to previous years, there will be no 8.30am Eid prayer at Platt Fields Park or Platt Lane Sports Complex. The organisers said this decision was taken following discussions with Manchester City Council, and they urge worshippers to attend Eid prayers at their local mosque instead.

The family funfair will still go ahead, from 12pm-6pm, with tickets on sale from 11am each day. Alongside a variety of rides for thrill seekers, visitors will also be able to enjoy cuisine from many parts of the world and browse stalls from local businesses.
